One would think that having three children automatically means willing subjects at any given time for some photo shooting. Wrong. I had pretty much exhausted my daughter’s patience for taking 101 shots at a time by the time my twins were born. Upon their arrival, sadly, the last thing I had on my mind was practicing taking perfect shots on them. They were miserable little boys for the first six months of their lives and thus, I very rarely thought to myself, “Hey, lets pose you naked wrapped in each others arms for about a half-hour, okay?” Before I knew it, they were one and even more unwilling to be positioned for photographing. They could barely sit up at that point so I’d pretty much get horrific little grunting faces anyway. Now, at age 3, they are game. They want me to take pictures and instantly show them their mug on my view screen. They laugh and “aww” at themselves and encourage one another to take their turn. Mommy Photographer dream come true? Hardly. Take a look for yourself.

To be continued….

Obviously my next post would involve bragging about my “youngest son”, by 14 minutes. We lovingly call him “The Mayor” because upon meeting you, or anyone, he will shake your hand and say, “Pleaseameetcha”. (Please to meet you for those who don’t speak Kid). He’s always got his hands in his pockets and walks around like he’s overseeing everyone. He rarely will agree to wear pants without them. He’s much different than his twin brother and not just because he has blue-gray eyes or perfectly poker straight hair. He’s the most easy going guy I know. He adapts to change without a word and he’ll gladly give the last cookie to you. He’s all about making you smile and making you proud of him, which I am every minute of the day. He’s a strong and confident boy and full of encouragement to the underdog (i.e. brother). He loves to show off his latest skill such as whistling and will do it every time he walks into the room by saying. He is a leader and you will often find him paving the way for his “big” brother (hence the photo choice below). He is also a lap cuddler and takes all the hugs and kisses he’s offered. One of my absolute favorite things about him is that he is always so excited to see his siblings. In the morning you can always expect a super high pitched squeaky greeting as if he hasn’t seen them in days. He is over the moon when we pick up his sister from school. I can’t stress how lucky I feel that even though I do have rough days, they never outweigh the great ones. And even though sometimes I count the minutes until bed time, I count the ones until I see them in the morning faster.

I will be up front and honest that when I found out I was having twin boys, I was a little more than surprised. Having had a daughter already, I just “assumed” at least ONE of those would be a girl. It would be easy because I was already well equipped with pink and purple, plus, my daughter was so easy going, delightful, beautiful, silly, shall I go on? I just wanted to replicate her as much as possible! Given the path that lead us to twins, I counted my blessings again, and again, and looked forward to the two boys that I had once prayed for as a teen (I could not imagine myself a mom of anything but boys at one time!) Fast forward three years and my sons are not only as special and unique as my daughter, but I feel like I have the best of both worlds! My sons are as lovable, if not more, and combined with my daughter’s crazy humor, they are a true comedy act. My boys were the perfect pieces to our family and I am ever so grateful.

My first son, by 14 minutes, is the true “middle child”. Its his way or the highway. He’s not going to give you a bite of his cookie or share his favorite car. He’s not going to let you dress him in the first outfit you choose. He’s going to pester you so many times for anything that you will just give in to hear him stop whining. However, he will climb into your lap and rub your face until you can barely keep your eyes open, even while blogging. He will smother you with sweet soft kisses and rub your ear (its his thing). He will cuddle with you in bed. He will give you a hug when you are hurt or sad. If I’m angry, he will say in his sweet voice, “Mommy? You happy?” and with that, my heart melts away my mood. He has such a gentle heart when it comes to emotions. He is so unbelievable handsome because he’s so quirky. He’s got four dimples…yes, four. Two in his cheeks and two on the tops of his mouth. He’s got unruly curly hair that looks fantastic some days and a hot mess others. He has eyes that a girl would die for – long curled lashes with big brown almond eyes. He’s a little on the stocky side, which just makes him that much more squeezable. He’s a total opposite of his twin brother in so many ways. I love my baby so much that its about time I share it with all of you.
